I've been promoting an offer to clients this January, aimed at "tuning-up" their websites with the benefit of the currently available tools to analyse search engine optimisation. About 14 clients have gone for it so far. And I thought perhaps other potential clients might be interested for an independent overview, (although I would need access to server statistics to make it really worthwhile).
So what was the offer?
"With the current state of the UK economy, the start of 2009 is a great time to review your website to see if it needs some work to make sure you are getting maximum competitive advantage over your competitors, and are getting best possible positioning in search engines.
"The last 12 months have seen a raft of developments, particularly from Google (but also Yahoo and MSN), that enable a website to be indexed better, more frequently. Techniques for getting keywords rewarded in search results are changing - particularly in terms of link phrases (so rather than "click here" a link might be "last minute holiday offer"). And Google Analytics offers unsurpassed levels of detail of how people find, and use, your site - and it's free to sign up for.
"I have a number of tools that can look at your website and analyse keyword focus, check it's compliance with accessibility law, and make suggestions on how to improve your positioning.
"So for a one-off fee you will get:
- overview of 2009 website traffic (with comparison to 2008 if available)
- your homepage page rank for search engine optimisation
- a cloud (visual analysis) of your keywords
- summary of page title and key word tags for all pages (limited to 15 on this offer)
- accessibility check
"I explain what these results mean to you and suggest ways in which your position in the search engines can be improved, along with any other structural improvements that might be worthwhile."
The cost? £75 for the report. Of course, current clients got it for a little bit less.
