In 2004 I won a competitive pitch to develop a website to promote the region of Tweeddale as a brand in Scottish tourism, covering identified areas of appeal (Adventure and Activity, Culture and Tranquility) with links to individual members' pages. Site traffic grew 267% between 2006-07, and membership has gone from 12 to almost 70 over the last 5 years.
Launched 25 October 2004. Rebrand to Tweed Valley and redesign of the website launched 11 May 2008. The site was shortlisted for a Scottish Borders Award 2008 in the “Award for Best Use of IT in a Tourism Related Business” category.
With the award of additional funding (part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Scottish Borders LEADER 2007-13 Programme) the site was expanded and redesigned from the top down into a content-managed site (Drupal) and launched on 5 October 2009.
Apart from the visible portion of the site there is a members area which contains a discussion forum, blog, archive of sub-group meeting minutes, and forms for requesting additional marketing material, or to join the mountain biking group; plus "how to" guides - as members can add events to the calendar themselves.
The site is currently undergoing a major upgrade (October 2010).
