There's been a lot of coverage of Microsoft's offer to buy Yahoo this week - is it the last act of a dying empire or a worthy challenge to Google's dominance. I've certainly got worries about Yahoo-owned Flickr, not sure I like the thought of Microsoft owning all my digital snaps online. For supporters of open source software and programming, Yahoo has been very supportive of the PHP scripting language, whereas Microsoft wants you to run its proprietary ASP code.
But if you have any sense at all that this is a good move, I have two words for you - Steve Ballmer. This man is Bill Gates' successor:
Enough said.
